Our mission statement is simple:
Image Description: A picture of Thomas, owner of Caption Nerds and his steno keyboard at an on-site event.
As a small business, everything about Caption Nerds’ brand is human-centered. We understand that folks that use captions deserve a human at the helm, always, whether you need one-on-one captions, or publicly displayed captions.
We proudly continue the legacy of stenographers that came before us, who were the first voice-to-text captioners ever and proved proof of concept that laid the groundwork of the Federal laws regarding captions we still use today, while planning for the future by using the latest technology in the industry.
We also take pride in the fact clients talk directly to owner/operator Thomas about their needs, no sales representative or secretary with zero captioning experience is going to simply say “yes” to everything; we walk you through our options and capabilities when onboarding clients to ensure we’re the best fit for your needs and often offer clients options they didn’t know they had. We offer onboarding meetings, documents, and even an easy scheduling portal for current clients.
Despite the general publics’ misconceptions, thanks inaccurate media, that stenographers have dated, large bulky machines with reams of paper flying around and unkept buns, today’s stenographers use steno machines with multiple hard drives, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ergonomic keys, and cutting-edge software that can deploy captions quickly and easily.

Captions can also be deployed subtlety, one-on-one, embedded into virtual environments, displayed on large LCD screens, streamed to personal devices such as phones, tablets and more.
· On-site CART Captions:
· One-on-One for an individual user via personal LCD screen or tablet for subtle delivery
· Projected/Displayed CART Captions for public sessions, delivery via an old school projector or via a large LCD/TV screen
· Overlays, to mimic TV captions running on the bottom of a presentation screen to eliminate the audience looking at two screens
· Remote Captions:
· Directly delivered to remote participants via a distinct URL*
· Human-created captions can be input via API tokens to several platforms, including Zoom, Teams, and many more
· Overlays, to mimic TV captions running on the bottom of a presentation screen to eliminate the audience looking at two screens

For every name we can drop, there’s dozens we can’t. We caption for students working towards degrees, folks attending medical appointments, employees and executives working in the private and public sector, scientists, advocates, professors, programmers, designers, dreamers and achievers always get a human at the helm working hard to give them beautiful, accurate captions.
We’re as honored to support everyday captions as we are the glitzy events with the famous names. Everyone deserves CART captions.
